There was a man who feared the Lord and he was a very wise man. God blessed him with wisdom, wealth and riches. However, he stopped being wise because he stopped fearing the Lord. He began to sin greatly against God and began to worship foreign gods. Gods of wood and stone, gods of foreign nations. He hardened his heart towards God and refused to repent.
He reaped the consequences of his behavior, but not only him, but the nation of Israel as well. Our decisions and actions affect our spouses, children and families. A leader's decisions and actions affect the entire nation. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life." Proverbs 9:10-11 NIV
