The Prodigal son asked for his inheritance and left his father's house. Instead of investing his money, he squandered it by living recklessly and immorally. Soon, a severe famine came on the land and he began to be in need. He finally came to his senses and returned home. However, instead of shunning and condemning him, his father ran to greet his son and welcomed him home with open arms. The father restored his sonship and celebrated his return. The Father in the story represents our Heavenly Father. "Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life." Psalm 23:6.
