Richard Wurmbrand was a pastor in Romania who was tortured for over 14 years in communist prison for his faith, by the Nazis. While he was in prison, he was severely beaten on the bottom of his feet. When he was finally ransomed from prison, he could not stand for long or wear shoes, because his feet were permanently damaged. Richard Wurmbrand overcame all the persecutions and founded the Voice of the Martyrs, a ministry that serves the persecuted church.

Acts 14:22b says, “We must go through many hardships in order to enter the kingdom of God.” However, Jesus promises that because he has already overcome the world, we also overcome too.
