In Noah's day, God regretted that He created mankind because of the great wickedness upon the earth. Every intent of mankind's heart was evil continually, so God had Noah build an ark to preserve himself, his family, and the animals because he planned to destroy the earth by flood. After the flood, God made an unconditional covenant, or divine promise, never to destroy the earth by flood again. The covenant's sign was the rainbow. God has been faithful to his covenant because He is a covenant keeper. Deuteronomy 7:9 says: "...He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments," (NIV).
