When God allowed the Jews to be taken captive into Babylon, Daniel and his peers, refused to conform to the pattern or the culture of Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzar expected the Jewish people to conform their thinking, their diet and their worship to Babylonian culture; however, Daniel and his peers refused. Instead, they held onto God's Word and refused to let the world squeeze them into its mold. Similarly, today we as God's chosen people, live in the world, but God has called us to be separate from the world. "...Don't let the world around you squeeze you into its own mold, but let God remold your lives from within..." Romans 12:1-2, (J. B. Phillips NT).
